When a multinational automobile company approaches Nest-In for sanitation solutions, Nest-In stepped up to the task with EzyNest. This modular plug-and-play offering was launched during the Swachh Bharat Mission, and is aimed at providing sanitation solutions to communities who do not have access to hygienic public toilets. As the automobile company’s CSR implementation partner, Nest-In installed modular EzyNest toilets in Zila Parishad schools in Maharashtra.

The Challenge
The current state of sanitary health in Zila Parishad schools in Maharashtra calls for efficient sanitation solutions. The goal of the customer’s CSR initiative was to help the students in these schools get access to hygienic sanitation facilities. The key challenges standing in the way were as follows:
- As is with most rural schools, there is a chronic lack of emphasis and education on using toilets and maintaining sanitary hygiene. This leads to an underestimation of the need for a toilet and its importance, which then negatively impacts the initiative to build it.
- Traditional toilets require a large amount of different materials and natural resources, and a large labour force to be built. Additionally, they require deep foundations, which is difficult to do in remote terrains. As the construction is done on-site, the overall building process is affected by adverse weather conditions.
The Nest-In Solution
Nest-In's EzyNest is a modular plug-and-play sanitation solution that served as the ideal solution for the implementation of the customer’s CSR initiative.
- Rapid Construction: EzyNest units can be set up more quickly as it is a plug and play solution, compared to traditional toilet units that are time-consuming to build. This is because the modular units are created to precision in a factory, and are transported to the site only for final installation and electrical and plumbing connections. Thus, most of the construction takes place off-site and is not dependent on weather conditions, availability of transportation or heavy machinery to move construction materials to and from the site, and a large labour force for manual construction work.
- Suitable for Remote Locations: The EzyNest toilets are made of a steel superstructure, which is resilient, durable, strong, and well-insulated.
- Customisable Units: The EzyNest toilets can be made disability-friendly by adding a ramp, a hand railing, and a high-placed hand wash basin.
- Thermal Insulation: The EzyNest units maintain cool and comfortable temperatures inside, even if the weather conditions are harsh outside.
The Impact
In 45 days, Nest-In successfully set up 360 EzyNest sanitation units for Zila Parishad schools. Overall, Nest-In installed 650 modular plug-and-play toilets over 3 years. We ensured stringent quality checks at every turn for the manufacturing and installation processes of the EzyNest toilets. Our experts followed standard project management practices and principles to help the customer successfully execute this project in Maharashtra.
