The Case
Our customers, a couple living in Delhi, wanted to build a lavish housing solution on the rooftop of their home situated in a popular neighbourhood. They were seeking a reliable yet quick and modern housing solution when they came across Nest-In’s range of premium prefab steel-based housing solutions, Nestudio.
The Challenges
The customer’s house was in a prominent neighbourhood in the city, and had a metro station running underground. Thus, their rooftop extension project came with the following set of challenges:
- Weight of Materials: The customer wanted designer tiles and chandeliers, which added a heaviness to the rooftop structure.
- Underground Vibrations: The metro line running underneath the house caused vibrations, which had to be mitigated expertly due to the increased weight of the rooftop extension.
- Hindrance to Neighbours: Due to the location of the house, there was a big possibility of the rooftop extension project causing a lot of disturbance in the area.
The Nest-In Solution

This is because they are built with the trust of Tata Steel, and can be designed to withstand winds of up to 250 kmph, resist earthquakes in Zones IV and V, and guard against fires up to 2 hours. Thus, they are ideal for construction in areas where vibrations and quakes take place.
2. Faster Construction: Nest-In’s construction processes are 2x faster than traditional building processes. The prefab components are manufactured to precision in a factory, and are transported to the site for final assembly. This greatly reduces on-site construction time and disturbance, and speeds up the project turnaround time.
3. Offering 100% Customisation: Nest-In's prefab buildings and homes are highly customisable, allowing customers to personalise multiple aspects of each room such as doors and windows, flooring and tiles, etc.
The Outcome
The team of experts at Nest-In implemented a robust structure for the rooftop extension, designed to withstand heavy loads. The team also designed columns that would hold the heavy designer wall tiles and the chandeliers safely. Additionally, all the walls were fabricated and installed as a single unit to prevent joints, which made the structure more water-durable and helped prevent leakages.
The team was also able to design the provision of a steam bath machine in the residential unit. Additionally, they provided a painted finish on the rooftop exterior wall, and wooden doors and moulding with Duco paint.
